2025 Buick Enclave and GMC Terrain Will Debut in 2024
During the third quarter earnings call in October 2023, the CEO of General Motors, Mary Barra, announced some exciting news regarding the upcoming models from Buick, Chevrolet, and GMC. As per the CEO, the next-generation Buick Enclave will arrive in the first half of 2024, along with redesigned versions of the Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia.
It’s worth mentioning that many car enthusiasts have already caught glimpses of the reworked variations of the Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia. However, when it comes to the Buick Enclave, it is expected to come equipped with a new turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that will generate 328 horsepower (245 kW / 333 PS) and 326 pound-feet (442 Nm) of torque. The modified engine represents a notable upgrade of 18 horsepower (13 kW / 18 PS) and 60 pound-feet (81 Nm) of torque, making it a much more powerful vehicle overall.
The upcoming 2025 Buick Enclave is not just about an improved engine but also an upscale interior with high-quality materials and a modern design. The changes aim to please those who seek a luxurious driving experience. Moreover, the Enclave will also reveal a freestanding curved display that integrates a digital instrument cluster and an infotainment system.
According to the CEO of GM, ICE-powered redesigned vehicles, including Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Buick Enclave, will arrive in mid-2024 after the next-generation GMC Terrain and Chevrolet Equinox.
Although there is currently limited information about the next-gen Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology revealed a version of the Equinox earlier this year (2023). The Chinese Equinox boasts a more rugged design similar to the redesigned Traverse. While details about the Chevrolet Equinox for the US market are scarce, the country may receive the same model. If this is the case, we expect the new crossover to be slightly larger than its predecessor.
We anticipate more information about the redesigned Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain in the coming months. General Motors (GM) has high hopes for these crossovers, as they will be new additions to growing segments. According to Barra, the CEO of GM, these models will be “outstanding products” that will offer more comfort and space than their predecessors. Moreover, Barra hinted at the possibility of additional driver assistance systems, such as Super Cruise.
Barra has revealed that the upcoming crossovers will feature a simplified engine lineup and a lot of familiar parts. About 60% of the components in each SUV will be reused, making it easier for the Big Red to produce the vehicles. Furthermore, GM aims to reduce the number of build combinations by 80-90%, simplifying the production process. Although many details are yet to be disclosed, these measures will help GM streamline its operations and reduce complexity.
